MOVE. RUN. LIFT.
Physiotherapy that keeps you doing what you love.
We're a physiotherapy clinic based at 51 Gilbert Street, Adelaide CBD — inside BUILT. Strength & Conditioning. Whether you're a runner chasing a new PB, a gym-goer dealing with a nagging injury, or just someone who wants to move without pain, we'd love to help.
Good Physio starts with really listening
At Base Movements Physiotherapy, we take the time to understand you — not just your injury, but your goals, your lifestyle, and what getting better actually means for you. You'll find us upstairs at BUILT. Strength & Conditioning, 51 Gilbert Street, Adelaide CBD — the perfect home for a physio clinic.
We're surrounded by movers, runners and lifters who are exactly the kind of people we love helping. Whether you're a BUILT. member who's just discovered we're right upstairs, or you've found us through Google, you're very welcome. We work with all kinds of people across Adelaide: runners training for their next race, gym-goers dealing with a niggling injury, people recovering from surgery, and everyone in between.
Our approach combines thorough clinical and movement assessment with hands-on treatment and tailored exercise programs. We want to know why you're in pain, not just where — so we can build a plan that genuinely works for you, now and into the future. Max and Charlie are experienced, approachable, and genuinely passionate about helping you reach your goals. They've worked with everyone from Olympic athletes to people who just want to get back to their morning walk without discomfort. Whoever you are and whatever your goal, you're in good hands.
It all starts with a solid Base.
We are right upstairs at BUILT.
Base Movements Physiotherapy is based inside BUILT. Strength & Conditioning at 51 Gilbert Street, Adelaide CBD. It's a pretty great setup — a world-class gym downstairs and experienced physiotherapists upstairs. If you're already a BUILT. member, your physio is just a short walk away. And as a thank you for being part of the community, BUILT. members receive 10% off all physiotherapy appointments. Just let us know when you book.
Our Approach.
We're problem solvers — and good problem solving starts with really understanding the problem. That means getting to know you first. What does your day look like? Are you training for a marathon, trying to keep up with the kids, or just wanting to get back to the gym without something hurting? The goal matters, because it shapes everything about how we approach your treatment. From there, we take a thorough look at how you move — not just where it hurts, but what's working well, what's restricted, what's weak, and what might be quietly contributing to your problem from somewhere else entirely. In our experience, the source of pain is rarely exactly where you feel it. Then we make a plan. A real one, built around you and what you're trying to get back to.
We combine hands-on treatment and exercise — because most problems need both, and exercise is at the heart of what we do. We're designed to move, and it's movement — done right, with the right load at the right time — that creates lasting change. But every plan is personal. You won't get a generic sheet of exercises and a 'see how you go.' Your body, your problem and your goals determine the path we take. Some problems need more hands-on work. Some need a structured strength program. Most need a bit of both. We use our skills and experience in movement, strength and treatment to figure out what your problem actually needs — and then we get to work.
How we can help you..
-
Physiotherapy
Whether you're dealing with an acute injury, a long-term condition, or just something that hasn't felt right for a while — we'll get to the bottom of it. We combine hands-on treatment with movement-based rehab to help you recover fully, not just temporarily.
-
Sports Physiotherapy
From weekend warriors to elite athletes, we love working with active people. We understand training load, movement mechanics, and what it takes to get back to sport safely. Max has worked with Olympic and Commonwealth Games athletes, and Charlie has a keen focus on conservative, movement-based sports injury management.
-
Dry Needling
If you haven't tried dry needling, you might be surprised at how effective it can be alongside exercise and manual therapy. Max holds NDN Level 1 certification and Charlie holds Level III GEMT certification — so you're in experienced hands.
-
Movement Assessments
Using the SFMA and FMS movement screening frameworks, we look at how your whole body moves — not just the bit that hurts. It's a great way to identify what might be contributing to your pain or limiting your performance, and to build a really targeted plan.
-
Force Plate Assessments
Our force plate technology gives us objective data on how your body produces and absorbs force. It's particularly useful for return-to-sport decisions, performance benchmarking, and spotting asymmetries you might not even be aware of.
-
Strength and Conditioning
Physio-led strength and conditioning programming to help you prevent injury, recover from one, or simply perform better. Max holds ASCA Level 1 accreditation and loves combining his physio and S&C knowledge to get great outcomes for patients.
